Today, Congresswoman Stephanie Bice voted in favor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, known as H.R. 21. The bill, which she cosponsors, was introduced by Representative Ann Wagner from Missouri and has successfully passed the House of Representatives.

The legislation aims to ensure that infants who survive abortion attempts receive the same medical care as any other newborn. This initiative is a response to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and independent organizations that have documented numerous cases where infants survived abortion attempts. In states with fewer restrictions on abortion procedures, these children are at greater risk without federal protections.

H.R. 21 builds upon the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act of 2002 by reinforcing legal and medical protections for infants born alive at any stage of development. It establishes specific medical responsibilities for healthcare providers and introduces enforcement mechanisms to ensure compliance with these standards.

Congresswoman Bice expressed her support for the bill with a statement: "It should not be controversial to provide lifesaving medical care to babies born alive after an attempted abortion. The passage of this bill reaffirms a fundamental truth: every child born in this country deserves the chance to live, regardless of the circumstances of their birth. My colleagues and I will continue to protect those who cannot protect themselves."
