Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso has announced the appointment of U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin to the Deputy Whip team for the 119th Congress. The team plays a crucial role in uniting the Senate Republican conference, securing votes for legislative actions, and advancing President-elect Donald J. Trump's policy agenda.
Senator Mullin expressed gratitude towards Senator Barrasso for his selection to the team, stating, “I’m grateful to my friend, Senator John Barrasso, for choosing me to serve on his Deputy Whip team to help strengthen our Republican conference and fight for the America First agenda.” He emphasized the importance of unity among Senate Republicans as they prepare for Trump's return to the White House.
Barrasso praised Mullin's capabilities, saying, “I’m glad to have Markwayne in the ring as a member of our Whip team. He’s a tough conservative with an extraordinary understanding of Congress.”
Mullin previously served on Senate Minority Whip John Thune’s Deputy Whip team during the 118th Congress and was designated as the Senate GOP liaison to the House of Representatives. He will continue this role under Barrasso's leadership.
Joining Mullin on the Deputy Whip team are Senators Mike Crapo as Chief Deputy, John Cornyn, Jim Banks, Marsha Blackburn, Katie Britt, Deb Fischer, James Lankford, Dan Sullivan, Thom Tillis, and Todd Young.
