Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin recently appeared on Fox News's "America’s Newsroom" to discuss President-elect Donald Trump's cabinet selections and their paths to confirmation. The senator emphasized the importance of having a ready cabinet from day one.
Senator Mullin highlighted his role in the confirmation process, stating, “It’s my first time to go through this process... Article Two Section Two does give us the right to advice and consent." He noted that no senators have opposed any nominees so far, suggesting a methodical approach by Trump's team: "It’s not about putting ‘yeses’ on the board it’s about keeping ‘noes’ off the board and they have done that.”
The senator also praised the success of Trump’s nominees in meeting with lawmakers. He mentioned Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel, and Lori Chavez-DeReamer as examples of individuals who are well-prepared for their roles. Mullin remarked on their readiness for tough questions during meetings: “They don’t shy away from the tough questions... I think that’s why so many people who’ve actually met with them come out and say ‘yeah we look forward to confirming them.’”
Discussing his meeting with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS), Mullin shared insights into Kennedy's stance on abortion. Kennedy reportedly told Mullin he believes there are too many abortions but will prioritize President Trump’s policies: “I’m serving at the president’s will. I’m going to put his policies first.”
Mullin expressed confidence in Trump's nominees being confirmed smoothly due to their preparation and alignment with the administration's goals.
