Congressman Josh Brecheen voted in favor of several bills this week aimed at addressing concerns related to China and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Brecheen supported HR 1425, the No WHO Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Without Senate Approval Act, which mandates that any World Health Organization (WHO) pandemic agreement affecting the U.S. must be ratified by the Senate as required by the Constitution.
He also backed HR 9456, the Protecting American Agriculture from Foreign Adversaries Act, allowing the Department of Agriculture to review and potentially block farmland purchases by foreign adversaries from China.
Additionally, Brecheen voted for H.R. 1516, the DHS Restrictions on Confucius Institutes and Chinese Entities of Concern Act. This bill prohibits tax dollars from funding American universities that host a Confucius Institute or maintain relationships with the CCP.
Furthermore, he supported H.R. 1398, the Protect America’s Innovation and Economic Security from CCP Act of 2024. This legislation would establish a CCP Initiative (CCP-I) within the National Security Division of the DOJ to counter economic threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party.
Lastly, Brecheen endorsed H.R. 7980, the End Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles in America Act of 2024. This act amends the Internal Revenue Code to exclude vehicles with batteries containing materials sourced from foreign entities of concern from clean vehicle credits. It requires adherence to definitions set by both Treasury and Commerce Departments and aims to close specific loopholes related to Chinese billionaires and manufacturing.
“China represents America’s greatest foreign threat, and these bills send a message to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that they can no longer take advantage of the American taxpayer,” said Congressman Josh Brecheen.
