Yesterday, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) engaged with community leaders, constituents, and local elected officials in Northwest Oklahoma. The senator visited Medford, Cherokee, Northwestern Oklahoma State University, and Fairview to hold ‘Community Conversations’ on his work in Washington and Oklahoma. Topics ranged from inflation and agriculture to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the border crisis.
“It was great to be on the road again yesterday with so many fired up constituents,” Sen. Mullin said. “At every stop my team and I are interacting and engaging with Oklahomans who are fed up with burdensome regulations, high taxes, and politicians telling them how to live their lives. Just like Wednesday, we’re sharing with them how we’re putting a stop to that.”
Senator Mullin began his day in Medford where he met with Mayor Gary Bowen, City Manager Dea Mandevill, Grant County Farm Service Agency Executive Director Dakotah Lane, and community members. He provided updates on the Biden-Harris border crisis, ongoing budget negotiations, and shared his political journey. Before departing for his next stop, he addressed questions about constituent services, election security, and the impact of the 2024 race on the state.
In Cherokee, Senator Mullin discussed states' roles in federal spending, the Israel/Hamas war, his faith, and social security. He met with City Manager Chad Roach, Alfalfa County Commissioner Nate Ross, Mayor Kolby Arnold, Sen. Roland Pederson (SD-19), Rep. Carl Newton (HD-58), among others.
At Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Senator Mullin spoke with President Dr. Bo Hannaford, Mayor Kelly Parker, City Manager Stephen Ford; Dr. Kent Martin from the Oklahoma Sorghum Commission; local business leaders; educators; and university students. Highlighting his position on the Senate Health Committee and ties with fiscal conservatives, he discussed topics such as the farm bill and appropriations while addressing questions on rights of the unborn and national debt.
The senator concluded his day in Fairview by meeting City Manager Robert Laverty; Assistant City Manager George Eischen; Fairview Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tree Kelly; Rep. Mike Dobrinski (HD-59); Pioneer Telephone Cooperative Inc.'s General Manager Blake Callaham; along with other constituents from nearby areas. He spoke about runaway spending in DC and threats posed by China while discussing his voting record. Questions covered election integrity issues along with discussions on the Farm Bill and food supply concerns.
On Wednesday prior to this tour day’s events in Northwest Oklahoma communities were part of Senator Mullin's 'Community Conversations' tour aimed at connecting with constituents during August's state work period.
