Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen took a firm stand today as he voted against H. Res. 1102 - Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. In his statement, Brecheen expressed his strong opposition to the $1.2 trillion spending bill, highlighting concerns over the increased spending levels and the inclusion of numerous earmarks.

"I could not vote for this $1.2 trillion spending bill, which confirms a topline spending level that is even $30 billion higher than what we saw under Speaker Pelosi. The bill also includes a total of 1,400 earmarks including those for abortion facilities, ‘LGBTQ Senior Housing’ services, ‘divesting in policing’ (also known as defund the police), and much more," stated Congressman Josh Brecheen.

Brecheen's decision to vote against Part II of the "minibus" follows his previous vote against Part I on March 6th. The Congressman's stance aligns with his belief that earmarks can lead to corruption and excessive spending in Washington, echoing the sentiments of the late Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn.

Brecheen's principled opposition to the spending bill underscores his commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency in government expenditures. His actions reflect a dedication to upholding accountability and advocating for responsible budgeting practices in Congress.
