U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) recently accompanied Gen. CQ Brown, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on a visit to the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP) in Oklahoma. MCAAP, the largest storage site for conventional ammunition in the Department of Defense, plays a crucial role in the nation's defense efforts, employing over 1,890 civilian personnel.

Senator Mullin expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to showcase McAlester's contributions to national security, stating, “Today, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff had the opportunity to witness our munitions production, visit with the civilian workforce, and see firsthand how McAlester is strengthening our defense industrial base.” He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that Oklahoma's military installations have the necessary resources to support the country's warfighters and enhance national defense.

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Mullin highlighted the significance of McAlester in replenishing munitions supplies and its pivotal role in preserving the future of the armed forces. He was grateful for the opportunity to demonstrate to Gen. Brown how McAlester leads the national effort in this critical area.

The visit to MCAAP served as a platform for discussions on Oklahoma's essential role in safeguarding the nation's security and supporting the armed forces. This event underscores the ongoing efforts to strengthen the defense industrial base and enhance readiness for any potential challenges that may arise.
