Washington, D.C. - In a vote today, the U.S. House of Representatives has managed to avert a government shutdown by extending the funding for various sectors until March. The appropriations bills for Military Construction-Veterans Affairs, Transportation-Housing-Urban Development, Agriculture, and Energy and Water have been extended until March 1st, while the other eight appropriations bills will be extended until March 8th.

Congresswoman Bice expressed her thoughts on the matter, emphasizing the importance of finding a solution to the border crisis without shutting down the government. She stated, "Shutting the government down does not solve the border crisis. In fact, it makes it worse. If the government were shutdown, Customs and Border Patrol agents would be forced to deal with the disastrous impacts of Biden's Border Crisis with no pay and diminished resources."

Bice further highlighted her commitment to addressing the immigration crisis and shared her efforts in drafting legislation last year that incorporated robust border security provisions. She also made it a point to reduce spending by 8% in the process. The congresswoman emphasized the need to responsibly cut spending while focusing on conservative priorities, without compromising the welfare of the military and federal workers.

Expressing her frustration with the need for another continuing resolution, Bice acknowledged that it was the only feasible option on the table. She stated, "While I am frustrated with the need for another continuing resolution, this was the only feasible option on the table."

The vote to extend funding for key sectors until March has provided a temporary solution to prevent a government shutdown. However, it remains crucial for lawmakers to work towards a long-term resolution to address the border crisis and ensure the effective functioning of the government.
