MATCH SUMMARY

  • Friends put together a pair of early opportunities in the ninth and 10th minutes, but MACU goalkeeper Jeremi Abonnel made a pair of stops to keep the Falcons off the board.
  • With 11:06 to go in the first half, Luan Cesar put the Evangels in-front. After a right side cross came into the right side of the box, Rodrigo Albuquerque flicked the ball over the defender before tapping a pass out of congestion to an open Luan Cesar. With no one contesting, Cesar powered a shot from 16-yards out to the right post, bringing the score to 1-nil.
  • Mid-America Christian came up with its first of many insurance goals in the 63rd minute. On the play, Luan Cesar won the ball from 30 yards out on the right side before slipping a pass to Ricardo Ferreira breaking toward the right post. From 10-yards out, Ferreira blasted the open breakaway toward the top left corner to make it a 2-0 game.
  • In the last 15 minutes of the half, the Evangels pushed across three more insurance goals, including a pair within 1:08 of each other. In the 76th minute, Uviwe Qasha found Cesar Ramirez breaking down the left side as Ramirez pelted a six-yard, well-placed shot into the top left corner out of the reach of the keeper, setting the score to 3-0.
  • A minute later, MACU took advantage of another Falcons breakdown as Rodrigo Ferreira sent a pass on ahead to Jack Price breaking down toward the middle. Price dribbled around a defender before dishing a pass to Georg Westerlund on the left side of the box. From eight yards out, Westerlund blasted an open shot to the top left of frame, expanding the Evangels' edge to 4-0.
  • With just over 10 minutes left, the Evangels added one more goal for good measure. After Qasha relayed a pass to the middle of the field for Price before delivering it to an open breaking Ricardo Ferreira. With only the keeper to contest with, Ferreira slipped a 14-yarder past the keeper trying to collapse at the point of attack, putting it just inside the right post to seal the 5-nil final.
