Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma, serving as the Republican Conference Vice Chair, recently led a floor event advocating for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. He was joined by fellow Senators Pete Ricketts from Nebraska, Cindy Hyde-Smith from Mississippi, and John Cornyn from Texas.
During the event, Lankford emphasized the importance of protecting vulnerable lives. "Just because a baby can’t defend herself doesn’t mean she’s disposable, it means she’s vulnerable. And that means we as a nation should determine what we’re going to do with the life of the most vulnerable," he stated.
Senator Ricketts also voiced his support for the act, asserting that "these babies deserve the dignity that every other person has."
Hyde-Smith reflected on the significance of the National March for Life in motivating efforts for stronger protections for unborn children and their mothers. She remarked, "The National March for Life always reminds us of why we continue to fight for stronger protections of our unborn children and for their mothers. But thankfully, the March also serves as a bright reminder of the progress we’ve made as a movement."
Cornyn added his perspective on America's responsibility towards these children: "If America is to be truly great, we should, without question, be willing to at least provide basic medical care to these innocent children."
