Chairwoman Stephanie Bice of the Modernization & Innovation Subcommittee, along with Chairman Bryan Steil of the House Administration Committee and Ranking Member Joe Morelle, welcomed Paralyzed Veterans of America to a new ADA-compliant drop-off and pick-up location at the Capitol.

"Making the Capitol more accessible to all Americans has been one of my top priorities as Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Modernization & Innovation," stated Chairwoman Bice. She acknowledged progress in meeting ADA standards but noted that more work is needed. "This new zone is a great start."

Chairman Steil expressed his gratitude for being part of this initiative, saying, "Our veterans put their lives on the line to defend our country, its citizens, and its ideals. It was an honor to join these courageous men and women at the Capitol's new ADA compliant Pick-up and Drop-off Zone." He emphasized that this project is crucial for making the Capitol accessible for everyone.

Ranking Member Morelle highlighted accessibility as a critical priority. “Ensuring the Capitol campus is accessible to all members of the public is a critical priority and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made so far,” he said. He also mentioned looking forward to further improvements in accessibility in collaboration with his colleagues.

The creation of this ADA-compliant zone was led by the Committee on House Administration's Subcommittee on Modernization and Innovation. This initiative follows recommendations from the House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress. As part of FY2024 Legislative Branch Appropriations, funding was approved for constructing this zone on the Capitol complex.
