Senator James Lankford, the Republican Conference Vice Chair, addressed the Senate to commend the rapid pace of confirmations for President Donald Trump's nominees. He highlighted that more individuals have been confirmed by the Senate in recent weeks than during comparable periods in both the Biden and first Trump administrations.
"We have confirmed more people now in the Senate than were confirmed in the first three weeks of the Biden Administration and in the first three weeks of the first Trump Administration combined," Lankford stated. He attributed this achievement to a willingness to "run the clock" and press forward with confirmations.
Lankford emphasized that preparations began before President Trump was officially sworn into office. "We started the hearings before the President was even sworn in, to be able to make sure that we’re ready," he explained. The senator noted that committee hearings were conducted concurrently with floor proceedings to expedite the process.
"This is not just about President Trump," Lankford added. "It’s about the United States and about us having a good operation for our government."
