Washington, D.C. – In a tight vote on the House floor, Congressman Josh Brecheen cast his vote in favor of impeaching Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Unfortunately, the motion failed by a slim margin of 216-214 in the House of Representatives.

Congressman Brecheen, who serves on the House Homeland Security Committee, made it clear that this was not a decision taken lightly. "I voted for impeachment not because of policy differences or politics, though I disagree with Secretary Mayorkas wholeheartedly," he stated. "The issue at hand is Mayorkas’ refusal to comply with existing immigration laws related to detention and parole and his breach of the public trust. Nobody is above congressional statute or the Constitution, including Secretary Mayorkas."

Earlier today, Congressman Brecheen took the opportunity to address his colleagues on the House floor, emphasizing the importance of holding Secretary Mayorkas accountable for his actions. During his speech, he highlighted the secretary's failure to adhere to immigration laws and his alleged breach of the public's trust.

In addition to his speech, Congressman Brecheen also appeared on CNN to further discuss the reasons behind his vote for impeachment. He reiterated his belief that Secretary Mayorkas had violated existing immigration laws and stressed the significance of upholding the constitutional rights and responsibilities of government officials.

While the impeachment motion ultimately did not pass, Congressman Brecheen's stance on the matter remains firm. He continues to advocate for the adherence to immigration laws and the preservation of public trust within the Department of Homeland Security.

The outcome of this vote serves as a reminder of the ongoing debates surrounding immigration policy and the responsibilities of government officials. As the nation grapples with these issues, it is crucial to recognize the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring the accountability of those in positions of power.
