The results of an 8-month housing assessment will be presented to City Council on June 26 in a 3 pm. workshop at City Council chambers, 20 S. Littler Ave., in Edmond.

While that meeting is open to the public, anyone interested in learning more about the assessment and the results can tune into a virtual open house via Zoom on June 28 at 5:30 p.m. The assessment team will present the findings and the emerging strategies for promoting attainable housing in Edmond. That virtual meeting is available at us02web.zoom.us/j/86114284023.

Since November 2022, the City of Edmond has been conducting a housing assessment to look at Edmond’s top housing challenges. The assessment evaluated housing supply and affordability, identified gaps and barriers to meeting demand, and was used to develop action-based strategies and policies to advance the community’s housing needs. The project’s goal is to provide pathways to attainable housing for existing and future households of all types, ages, and income levels.

The housing assessment followed a five-step process that blended technical data analysis with robust community engagement, including nine stakeholder meetings, four focus groups, two public pop-up events, two community surveys with more than 2,100 total responses, and ongoing guidance from a project steering committee that represented a broad cross-section of the Edmond community. Together, these approaches were used to paint a complete picture of Edmond’s housing needs and priorities.
