Oklahoma City University toppled Southwestern Christian 84-70 on Thursday night at the Noble Complex.
Dravon Clayborn boosted the Stars with 22 points. Oklahoma City improved to 15-12, 13-8 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball.
OCU reeled off an 8-0 run to push its margin to double figures late in the second half. Clayborn tallied four of his points in the OCU surge, and Avery Jackson sank a free throw to grow the Stars' lead to 59-49 with 9:53 to go.
The Stars responded after Southwestern Christian snared the lead 39-37 with 17:20 showing as Ronald Moore dunked.
Avery Jackson nailed a trey in transition to put Oklahoma City ahead 68-53 with 6:36 left in the contest. The Stars led by as many as 15 points on several occasions down the stretch of the game.
Clayborn, a senior studying business administration from Evanston, Ill., totaled nine rebounds, four assists and three steals while making 8 of his 10 free-throw tries.
Avery Jackson, a freshman political science major from Frisco, Texas, provided OCU with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and a season-best five 3-pointers. Brandon Jackson, a junior from Westmont, Calif., majoring in human performance, collected 11 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two steals.
