Oklahoma Christian opened the spring season with a gritty performance that resulted in an individual title and a second-place finish for the team.
The Eagles were down one of their top 5, with Exequiel Rodriguez missing the opening tournament due to a non-covid illness, but Noah Haase, who was there to play as an individual, slid into the starting five.
Alejandro Armijo secured his second consecutive individual title dating back to the fall, with the win today in Humble, Texas. Armijo shot 70-71-67 (-8) during his three rounds, with 15 birdies and an eagle. He only had one bogey in the final round to go along with 6 birdies.
Oskari Nikku, who was in first at the end of day one, took 4th by shooting a total of 212 (-4) over his 54 holes.
Returning All-American Mateo Pulcini finished T7, shooting 214 (-2) to get another top-10 finish.
Santiago Villareal and Noah Haase finished one shot off each other, shooting 228 and 229, respectively.
The Eagles had a team total of 857 (-7), finishing one shot off the lead after almost completing the 6-shot comeback on the final day!
THOUGHTS FROM COACH LYNN
Proud of the way we played this week with the conditions and circumstances. There were a lot of big positives for our team.
I am incredibly proud of Alejandro for the grit and determination he showed today in difficult conditions. That's back-to-back wins for him dating back to last fall event.
