The women's bowling team brought home the program's first Tier 1 championship at the Mid-states Championship on Sunday in Wichita, Kansas.
The ladies were the number three seed as they headed into match play, where the winner is decided by the best of five matches. The Eagles defeated Newman 3-0, and Ottawa 3-2, and swept the championship match against St. Ambrose.
"What a great weekend for the Oklahoma Christian University women's bowling program winning our first Tier I tournament." head coach James Hayes said after the event. "Our ladies fought hard all weekend long and never gave up. The coaching staff is so excited for these ladies and what they accomplished. We are back in action on Dec. 18th in Las Vegas for two more Tier I events"
The men finished in the top eight of the tournament and finished in 4th out of 31 teams as they headed into match play. Freshman Ashton Holladay made the All-tournament team averaging 228 over 6 games.
"Men bowled well all weekend finishing, and they finished 4th heading into the Top 8 match play." coach Hayes said after the event. "Overall a good weekend for the men facing a lot of top 20 teams and scoring good points for sectional rankings."
