Oklahoma City University snags six wins in Head of Oklahoma Regatta

Oklahoma City University hauled in victories in six events in the Head of the Oklahoma Regatta on Saturday on the Oklahoma River. 

The Stars snared the William Schnittman Cup by winning the men's collegiate four over the 2,000-meter course. OCU captured the Schnittman Cup for the eighth time in nine years. 

Oklahoma City reeled in gold medals in the men's open lightweight single, men's collegiate pair and men's collegiate novice four plus the men's collegiate four and men's open collegiate eight among the night sprints. 

OCU nabbed second-place finishes in the women's collegiate single (head racing and night race), men's open double and men's open double night sprint. Alabama halted the Stars' streak of winning the Ronald J. Norick Cup, which goes to the winner of the men's collegiate eight. OCU had taken the trophy the past five years. 

In the men's collegiate pair, the Stars boasted of the top three finishers. Kyle Brown and Andrija Simeunovic posted the winning time of 15 minutes, 25.1 seconds. Keaton Knopp and Todor Stankovic took second, and Elias Dahl and Nikola Uveric landed third. 

Francisco Andrade of OCU earned the win in the men's open lightweight single. Andrade, a freshman from The Woodlands, Texas, clocked a time of 17:28.8. 

Oklahoma City's men's collegiate novice four reeled in the victory with a mark of 17:05.1. 

In night racing, OCU delivered wins in the men's open collegiate four and the eight. In the four, OCU covered the 500 meters in 1:35.9. In the eight, the Stars recorded a time of 1:28.4. 

Ruthie Lacy came in second place in the women's collegiate single races. Lacy, a junior from Oklahoma City, produced a time of 18:02.7 in the 2,000-meter race, while during the night sprint, Lacy had a time of 1:53. 

In the men's open double, the crew of Taylor Broussard and Aidan Moriarty collected a time of 15:21.3. 

Racing in the Head of the Oklahoma continues 7:50 a.m. Sunday.
