Rylee Steward of Oklahoma City University collected Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball defender of the week.
Steward, a junior from Edmond, Okla., set a school record for a match with 13 blocks against Texas Wesleyan, ranked 24th in the NAIA, on Friday at Abe Lemons Arena. Steward finished with 14 kills as well.
On Saturday, Steward finished the Stars' match against 10th-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) with seven blocks and three kills.
She finished the weekend matches with 20 blocks, four digs, 17 kills, and only two errors. Her per-set averages were 1.89 kills and 2.22 blocks per set along with a .326 hitting percentage. On the season, Steward has 118 kills, 161 points, 73 blocks, and a hitting percentage of .277. She leads the Stars in blocks and is second in kills.
Oklahoma City visits Panhandle State for a 6 p.m. match Friday in Goodwell, Okla.
