Congressman Frank D. Lucas (OK-03) has responded to President Trump’s announcement of a $12 billion economic assistance package for American farmers. The package aims to provide support to the agricultural sector, with up to $11 billion allocated to the USDA’s Farmer Bridge Assistance program, which will issue one-time payments to row crop farmers. The remaining $1 billion will be reserved as the USDA monitors changing market conditions. Funds are scheduled for delivery by February 28, 2026.

In his statement, Lucas said, “Today’s timely announcement of economic assistance proves once again that President Trump never forgets our farmers. This much-needed relief will go a long way for the men and women who keep our country fed, and I know my fellow Oklahomans welcome this effort with open arms.”

Frank Lucas has represented Oklahoma’s 3rd district in Congress since 1994 after succeeding Glenn English. Before his time in Congress, he served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1984 to 1988. Lucas was born in Cheyenne, Oklahoma in 1960 and continues to reside there. He graduated from Oklahoma State University–Stillwater in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
