On Thursday, U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma participated in a session with the hosts of the Ruthless Variety Progrum. During the conversation, he shared anecdotes from his gym experiences and discussed his travels with former President Donald J. Trump. The discussion also touched on Republican goals for the 119th Congress, including insights into the budget reconciliation process and fulfilling what is referred to as "the Trump mandate for America."
Senator Mullin emphasized the importance of clear communication during Trump's initial days in office: “Communicating what he [President Trump] wants to get done in those first 100 days is so important... The House has to get the budget, has to get reconciliation moving. The Senate, we have to get reconciliation and then we also have to do confirmations.” He described Trump's leadership style as setting a brisk pace for both legislative bodies.
Addressing concerns about potential discord between Congress and the White House over budget reconciliation, Mullin stated: “This has gotten blown out of proportion... It’s just the process, how do we get that done? What can the House do and what can the Senate get done?” He further clarified that while there might be discussions on whether one or two bills are necessary, “The president has been very clear, he’s okay with one bill. He’s okay with two.”
Mullin also explained why it is crucial to make Trump's executive orders permanent: “Let’s get back to why the president wanted one bill. He wanted to make his executive orders permanent... So the president can go in on day one reinstate those hundreds of executive orders that President Biden put in place.” According to him, making these orders permanent would ensure long-term stability in energy policy and border security.
