Washington, D.C. – Congressman Josh Brecheen's bill H.R. 4467, The DHS Border Services Contracts Review Act, successfully passed in the House of Representatives today. The bill aims to ensure responsible spending of taxpayer dollars on government contracts for services at the Southern border.

"This bill is needed so that we ensure our border patrol agents are empowered to focus their time on defending the homeland, while we also safeguard Americans’ taxpayer dollars from potential waste. I am happy to see that this commonsense legislation passed the House of Representatives by a voice vote and I thank Chairman Mark Green and members of the House Homeland Security Committee for all their support," expressed Congressman Josh Brecheen.

The DHS Border Services Contracts Review Act requires the Under Secretary of Management at DHS to generate a report assessing the role of contractors at the Southern border. This report will include a strategy to enhance the procurement and delivery of services from contractors assisting DHS along the Southern border.

The legislation addresses concerns of mismanagement of taxpayer funds and personnel due to overlapping responsibilities of different DHS contractors working at the Southwest border during the historic influx. By directing DHS to identify weaknesses, improve cost effectiveness, and enable employees to focus on their primary responsibilities, this bill aims to enhance accountability and efficiency within the department.

In addition, the act mandates oversight by requiring DHS to present Congress with a strategy for enhancing the procurement process for contractors.
