Washington, D.C. - The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), receiving support from Congresswoman Bice. In a statement, Bice expressed the importance of the NDAA in safeguarding the nation's security.

"In an increasingly unsafe world, this year's National Defense Authorization Act is critical in safeguarding our nation," Congresswoman Bice stated. She acknowledged that while the bill may not be perfect, she recognized the significance of supporting legislation that strengthens national defense.

Bice specifically highlighted several provisions within the NDAA that benefit the country. "This legislation includes a 5.2% pay raise for our servicemembers, the largest in 20 years," Bice noted. This pay raise demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting those who serve and protect the nation.

The Congresswoman also emphasized the inclusion of a Parents' Bill of Rights at Department of Defense schools, ensuring that military families have the necessary protections and support. Additionally, the NDAA addresses concerns over the teaching, training, or promotion of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in the military, providing safeguards against divisive ideologies.

The readiness and lethality of the armed forces are crucial in countering adversarial threats in the Indo-Pacific region. Bice praised the NDAA for including measures to strengthen readiness and lethality, ensuring that the military is well-prepared to face any challenges that may arise.

One significant aspect of this year's NDAA is its focus on combating the fentanyl epidemic. Bice introduced the Disrupt Fentanyl Trafficking Act, which was included in the NDAA. This legislation empowers the Department of Defense to take necessary steps to halt cartel trafficking of fentanyl, a dangerous drug that has claimed countless American lives.

"Fentanyl is killing countless Americans, and we must move swiftly to halt this crisis and safeguard our communities," Bice asserted. By including her bill in the NDAA, Bice aims to address the urgent need to combat the fentanyl epidemic and protect communities across the nation.

Furthermore, the NDAA contains provisions that directly benefit Oklahoma. These provisions allocate $58 million for Tinker Air Force Base's 3-Bay KC-46 Depot Maintenance Hangar, $5.8 million for Tinker's F-35 Aircraft Oxygen Shop, and $1.8 million for the Shawnee National Guard Readiness Center. These investments will enhance the capabilities and resources available to these Oklahoma-based military facilities.

As the U.S. House of Representatives passes the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, Congresswoman Bice emphasizes the critical importance of this legislation in safeguarding the nation's defense and addressing pressing issues such as the fentanyl epidemic. With a focus on strengthening national security and supporting servicemembers, the NDAA serves to protect and empower the United States in an increasingly complex global landscape.
