Please join us in congratulating Deputy Shad Macfarlane with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office for being named the Downtown Exchange Club's Deputy of the Year. Deputy Macfarlane’s nomination was suggested by the deputies he serves alongside.
Sgt. Heath Oldham writes:
“On multiple occasions, I have seen Deputy Macfarlane go out of his way to help an individual or family outside of the course of his normal duties. Recently, I watched him handle a verbal domestic case between a husband and wife. They were arguing over the installation of a water well on their property. Apparently, the family had not had running water over the past 3 years. The five year daughter told Deputy Macfarlane that she was so excited because she was close to getting to take her first bath. The husband told Deputy Macfarlane that he didn't have the last of the parts to finish installing the well because he could not afford it. Deputy Macfarlane reached out to a friend of his that owns a well service. The owner said he would donate the remaining parts if Deputy Macfarlane would help him install it. Deputy Macfarlane agreed and told his friend that if there was a cost for parts or his friend's time, he would pay for it.”
Lieutenant Gene Bradley (Last Year’s Award Winner) writes:
“On numerous occasions Deputy Macfarlane has played a significant role in working with me with mental health consumers. Deputy Macfarlane goes beyond just the initial call and always makes every effort to follow up later to make sure services are provided. Deputy Macfarlane worked tirelessly with me on a juvenile runaway case until we were able to get this individual into a boy’s ranch program. Deputy Macfarlane always looks beyond the initial call to see what support a family can receive to make each crisis more manageable. He demonstrates true dedication and professionalism in bettering his community that he serves.”
We are honored to serve alongside professionals like Deputy Macfarlane.
