The OC Eagles continued their conference play opening road trip by facing the No. 25 West Texas A&M Buffs.
The Eagles played tough but were unable to catch up to the three-point barrage by the Buffs. Throughout the first half, the Eagles exemplified great defense each possession, but the Buffs would find a way to hit a shot with little time left on the shot clock. Down by a few points early, the Eagles needed a spark on offense. Fortunately for Oklahoma Christian, that spark wears #15 in maroon. In the first half, Drew Tennial finished with 20 points, which came through a beautiful display of scoring. Tennial would shot 70% from the field in the first half, going 7 of 10 from the field. DJ Walter provided some scoring as well, scoring 8 points on 63% shooting from the field.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to rely heavily on the scoring prowess of Drew Tennial. Scoring a career-high, Tennial would finish the contest with 28 points, going 10 of 13 from the field in just 33 minutes of action. The Eagles would also be assisted in the scoring department with help by Antonio Gordon in the second half. Gordon would finish with 19 points and 8 rebounds. But WT shot 13-25 from beyond-the-arc and that proved to be the difference in Canyon.
The Eagles will travel back home and play the University of Permian-Basin on Thursday, December 8th, at 7:30 pm.
