Oklahoma Christian University wins a double-overtime thriller in the opening round of the LSC Championship

Oklahoma Christian men's soccer (10-4-5, 3-3-3 LSC) reached postseason play for the first time in its DII era in the form of the Lone Star Conference Championships quarterfinals, and they made the most of it on Tuesday night against the #4-seed Lubbock Christian (7-8-5, 4-3-2 LSC).

For the second time in the last week, Elliott Forestier opened the scoring for OC on a free kick goal, this time in the 24th minute he Have the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Forestier's goal was his second of the season.

The Eagles' defensive effort was downright dominant in the quarterfinal's matchup, only allowing 7 total shots over 110 minutes. The defense only allowed 2 shots in the first half, 5 shots in the second half, and zero shots in the two overtime periods. But in the 79th minute, a Chaparral played through on a great through ball and scored to tie that match.

The tie held for the final 11 minutes of the match forcing two 10-minute overtime periods. And with a penalty shoot-out looming, the Eagles broke through with 49 seconds left on the clock. The Eagles drew a foul at midfield and Joep Claassen played a perfect ball into the box, and Alexandre Picoto Rodrigues got his head on it to score the game-winner. The assist on the goal was Claassen's first of the season and the goal was Rodrigues' 3rd.
