U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) has introduced legislation aimed at limiting the authority of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) over small businesses. The proposed bill, titled the Small Businesses Before Bureaucrats Act, seeks to reduce federal oversight and what Mullin describes as unnecessary interference from the NLRB.
According to Senator Mullin, the NLRB was initially created to act as a neutral party in labor disputes but has been used in recent years to advance union interests at the expense of business owners. “Oklahoma is the proud home of nearly 400,000 small businesses,” said Senator Mullin. “Our job creators have been burdened for too long by the intrusion of the NLRB to advance big union priorities at the expense of small businesses across America. This is a commonsense measure that will rein in federal bureaucracy and ensure our entrepreneurs can operate their businesses as they see fit.”
