On August 20, Lankford reiterated his stance on chemical abortion drugs, stating: “Making America Healthy Again means putting mothers’ health first. I’ve long warned about the dangers of chemical abortion drugs. New studies confirm that mifepristone poses serious risks, and the FDA should restore safeguards to protect mothers.” Mifepristone is an FDA-approved medication used for medical abortions in the United States.
Later that day, he highlighted Shawnee Milling Company’s impact in Oklahoma by posting: “Joe, the President of Shawnee Milling Company, is the 4th generation of his family to run the business. They send food everywhere, while also bringing in people, training them, and giving them jobs. Joe and everyone at Shawnee Mills show that we’re Oklahomans, we work, we get the”. The company has operated for generations as a significant employer and food producer within Oklahoma.
On August 21, Lankford expressed sympathy over Dr. James Dobson’s death: “Cindy and I are saddened to learn of Dr. James Dobson’s passing at 89. He was a courageous voice for faith and family, and his wisdom shaped generations. We are lifting up his wife Shirley, their children Danae and Ryan, and all of the Dobson family in prayer as they grieve.” Dr. Dobson was known nationally for founding Focus on the Family and for influencing evangelical Christian thought.
Senator Lankford has been an advocate on issues such as public health policy regarding reproductive rights and supporting local industry in Oklahoma through legislative efforts.
