Senator James Lankford marked the anniversary of September 11, 2001, with a series of statements on his social media account, reflecting on national values, remembrance, and civility.

In a post published on September 11, 2025, Lankford wrote: “We are a nation that lives and walks in our faith. I know a lot of you are wondering where we go from here, how do we move on, what’s our next step? We, as a nation, need to stick to our values and continue to trust God. Charlie was an unbelievable voice for our nation, and I”.

Later the same day, he stated: “24 years later, @SenateGOP will never forget 9/11. We remember the fallen, honor our heroes, and respect the sacrifices of our military and intelligence communities who continue to protect our nation.”

Addressing ongoing challenges facing the country, Lankford also posted: “These are difficult days for our country. We must live out our faith and principles—even in disagreement—and commit to open dialogue. We are better than this as a nation, and we should challenge each other to a higher level of civility.”

Senator Lankford represents Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate. His comments come amid annual national observances commemorating the terrorist attacks of September 11th. The date remains significant in American history as one that saw coordinated attacks resulting in nearly 3,000 deaths and lasting impacts on domestic security policies.
