Sen. James Lankford, U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, shared several updates on his Twitter account this week, highlighting legislative priorities in the Senate, expressing support for the Oklahoma National Guard, and encouraging charitable giving.

On December 1, 2025, Sen. Lankford wrote about upcoming Senate business and local sports enthusiasm: “This week we will focus on passing more of @POTUS’ nominees and work on the remaining appropriations bills. Most importantly BOOMER SOONER. Can’t wait to cheer @OU_Football on in the playoffs. That’s what’s moving on Monday!”

The following day, December 2, he thanked members of the Oklahoma National Guard for their service: “Thank you to the men and women of the Oklahoma National Guard for stepping up and volunteering for this mission. Your dedication and willingness to serve make our entire state proud.”

Later that same day, Sen. Lankford acknowledged Giving Tuesday with a message encouraging charitable donations: “Happy Giving Tuesday! I encourage everyone to find some way to give to a charity or nonprofit of your choice during this season. An added plus—next year, thanks to my Charitable Act, you’ll be able to write off your charitable donations on your taxes. Find a way to serve your”.

Senator Lankford has been an advocate for legislation that encourages charitable giving through tax incentives—a reference in his tweet is made to his “Charitable Act,” which allows individuals who itemize deductions as well as those who take the standard deduction to deduct certain charitable contributions from their taxable income beginning next year.

Oklahoma’s National Guard regularly participates in both domestic missions and overseas deployments; expressions of appreciation from elected officials are common when new missions are announced or volunteers are recognized.

The University of Oklahoma football team (OU Football), referenced by Lankford with “Boomer Sooner,” has a significant following in Oklahoma and often competes at high levels within collegiate athletics.
