Sen. James Lankford, U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, recently addressed topics ranging from a high-profile legal verdict to student-led prayer events in a series of posts on his official social media account.
On September 23, 2025, Sen. Lankford publicly thanked federal authorities for their efforts in a recent court case involving former President Donald Trump. In his post, he stated: “Thank you to @USAO_SDFL, the @SecretService, and all federal partners who followed the facts of the law and worked tirelessly to ensure justice was done. Later that day, Sen. Lankford reflected on the anniversary of a student prayer movement known as “See You At The Pole.” He wrote: “Thirty-five years ago, a group of students took a risk to pray at the flag pole at their school. This sparked a national movement that is still happening today. I will See You At The Pole tomorrow to pray for our nation.” (September 23, 2025).
Continuing his focus on student-led faith initiatives, Sen. Lankford posted about participating in a local event the following morning: “This morning, I had the privilege of joining Bethany High School students at their flagpole to pray. I’m so encouraged by their boldness and faith. We can come to the Lord in prayer anytime, anywhere, and these students are living that out. Grateful for their leadership and” (September 24, 2025).
The “See You At The Pole” movement began in Texas in 1990 when students gathered around their school’s flagpole to pray for each other and their schools—a practice that has since grown into an annual nationwide event observed by thousands of students across the United States.
Sen. Lankford’s public support for both law enforcement efforts and student religious expression aligns with his long-standing advocacy for religious freedom and civic engagement.
