Sen. James Lankford, who represents Oklahoma in the United States Senate and serves on several key committees, has recently addressed issues ranging from voter ID laws to federal agency reform and government shutdowns through a series of posts on his social media account.
On March 24, 2026, Lankford stated: “72 senators represent states that require some form of voter ID. Several already require proof of citizenship. This isn’t a crazy idea, it’s already happening across the country. The SAVE Act makes it the national standard and ensures only American citizens vote.”
The following day, March 25, 2026, he commented on the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), writing: “FEMA has needed major reform for years. Thank you @POTUS for your continued work to make FEMA the agency Americans need it to be. I look forward to working with @SecMullinDHS on a FEMA reform bill in the days ahead.”
On March 26, 2026, Lankford highlighted concerns about federal employee pay during government shutdowns: “For three of the last six months DHS employees have not been paid. If my Prevent Government Shutdowns Act became law, federal employees would never have to deal with a shutdown again.”
Lankford is recognized as the Senate’s top “Taxpayers Friend” by the National Taxpayers Union and is known for advocating lower taxes and limited government while serving on committees such as Finance and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs (official website). He also authors an annual Federal Fumbles report that proposes solutions to challenges facing the federal government.
Additionally, Lankford has directed Falls Creek Youth Camp—one of the nation’s largest—and maintains offices in Washington D.C., Oklahoma City, and Tulsa (official website). His public statements reflect ongoing efforts related to protecting life, liberty, families, and addressing operational issues within federal agencies.
