Sen. James Lankford, U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, has used his social media platform to address issues concerning Senate procedures and national unity in early September 2025.

On September 8, Lankford criticized Democratic senators for their actions regarding presidential nominations, stating: “.@POTUS deserves to have his team in place. Democrats’ historic obstruction is grinding the Senate to a halt and blocking progress on legislation. It’s time to fix the process.” The same day, he expressed support for calls to prayer across the country, writing: “America is stronger when we pray. I join @POTUS in calling every American to set aside time each week to pray for our nation. We are one nation under God, and I will continue to pray that we work with Him and trust in His plan for us.”

Continuing these themes on September 9, Lankford posted about ongoing efforts within the Senate: “A busy week here in the Senate. We’re working through a rule change for nominations to stop Democrat obstruction of @potus’ nominees. President Trump needs his team in place, so something has to change. We’re continuing to work through the National Defense Authorization Act,”

The issue of delays in confirming presidential nominees has been a recurring point of contention in recent years. Senators have debated changes to longstanding rules as part of broader efforts aimed at streamlining confirmations and ensuring executive branch positions are filled efficiently.
