Sen. James Lankford, U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, shared several updates on July 18, 2025, through his social media account. His posts addressed legislative actions in Congress, international policy concerns, and a visit with a prominent athlete.

In the first post of the day, Lankford referenced recent congressional action regarding federal spending: “Rescissions package is headed to your desk, @POTUS. @SenateGOP is keeping our promise to cut waste, fraud, and abuse.” (July 18, 2025). This statement follows ongoing efforts by Senate Republicans to reduce government expenditures by rescinding previously allocated funds deemed unnecessary or misused.

Later that afternoon, Lankford highlighted a personal event involving an Oklahoma athlete: “Cindy and I had the pleasure of giving a Capitol Tour to Eli Willits, the No.1 MLB draft pick, and his family. Eli is a remarkable young man from Oklahoma who is grounded in his faith, and we are excited that he is going to play ball here in DC. Eli, we can’t wait to watch you” (July 18, 2025). The mention refers to Eli Willits’ recent selection as the top pick in Major League Baseball’s draft.

In an evening post on foreign policy matters, Lankford commented on proposed legislation in Ireland: “Ireland’s bill to ban imports from Judea and Samaria doesn’t just target our ally Israel, it puts American companies in legal jeopardy and could force them to violate US law. This is deeply misguided, and I urge Ireland to reconsider.” (July 18, 2025). Ireland has previously considered measures restricting trade with Israeli settlements located in areas internationally known as Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), which has raised concerns about potential conflicts with existing U.S. laws prohibiting boycotts against Israel.

Senator James Lankford serves as one of Oklahoma’s two representatives in the United States Senate since 2015.
