Sen. James Lankford, U.S. Senator representing Oklahoma, recently posted a series of messages on his official X account addressing state identity, community engagement, and legislative priorities.

On September 1, 2025, Lankford expressed a clear distinction between Oklahoma and another state by stating, “Oklahoma does not want to be California.”

The following day, September 2, he highlighted the efforts of a local school resource officer in Broken Arrow: “JT, a school resource officer in Broken Arrow, talks about the work he does with students to bridge gaps in the community. JT, thank you for what you do each and every day. We’re Oklahomans, we work, we get the job done.”

Later that evening on September 2, Lankford discussed his return to legislative duties in Washington: “Back in the Senate, and we have a lot going on this week, like the National Defense Authorization Act and working to prevent government shutdowns. @LeaderJohnThune also asked me and some other @SenateGOP members to find a way to fix our broken nominations process in the Senate so”

Senator Lankford has been an active member of Congress since 2015. The National Defense Authorization Act is an annual piece of legislation that outlines defense policy and budget priorities for the United States military. Preventing government shutdowns remains a recurring issue as Congress negotiates funding bills before deadlines.
