Rep. Stephanie Bice, U.S. Congresswoman representing Oklahoma’s 5th district, used her social media platform to highlight recent legislative actions by House Republicans and criticize Democratic lawmakers over government funding issues.
On October 5, Bice posted, “Today is October 5th
@HouseAppropsGOP has passed all 12 appropriations bills out of committee.
@HouseGOP has fully funded the government with a clean, simple CR.
What are the Democrats doing? Playing games and supporting a government shutdown.”
She repeated this message on October 6, stating, “Today is October 6th
@HouseAppropsGOP has passed all 12 appropriations bills out of committee.
@HouseGOP has fully funded the government with a clean, simple CR.
What are the Democrats doing? Playing games and supporting a government shutdown.”
On October 7, Bice reiterated her stance: “Today is October 7th
@HouseAppropsGOP has passed all 12 appropriations bills out of committee.
@HouseGOP has fully funded the government with a clean, simple CR.
What are the Democrats doing? Playing games and supporting a government shutdown.”
Bice’s comments come amid ongoing debates in Congress regarding government funding and potential shutdowns. The House Appropriations Committee, controlled by Republicans, has moved forward with all twelve appropriations bills necessary to fund federal agencies. A continuing resolution (CR) is a temporary measure used by Congress to fund the government and avoid a shutdown when regular appropriations have not been enacted.
Stephanie Bice has served in Congress since 2021 after replacing Kendra Horn. Before her tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives, she served in the Oklahoma Senate from 2014 to 2020. Bice was born in Oklahoma City in 1973 and continues to reside there. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater in 1995.
