Oklahoma City University Stars travel to Science & Arts for SAC tournament

Oklahoma City University secures the six seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference men’s soccer tournament. The Stars finish the regular season with record of 10-6-1, 4-4-1. They will travel to Science and Arts (10-4-3) on Saturday, November 5 at 7 pm.

The Stars’ top performers of the season were John Woodhead, Lucas de Freitas, and Jordan Da Costa. Woodhead led the team with 13 goals and 28 points. De Freitas contributed with eight goals. Da Costa had the team lead in assists with seven to go along with three goals. Danilo Vilani helped the stars with 65 saves and a 1.47 goals-against average. Coached under Billy Martin, the Stars owned five shutouts on the season. All five came during their five-game winning streak. They also started out with a five-game winning streak.
 
No. 3 Mid-American Christian locks up the SAC regular season title for back-to-back seasons and has the top seed going into the SAC tournament. They defeated Southwestern Christian in the SAC tournament last year. The Evangels only loss this season came to No. 9 MidAmerica Nazarene.
 
The SAC tournament will start on Nov. 5 with the quarterfinals starting on Nov. 8. The championship will be played on Nov. 11 with games being played on campus sites with the higher seeds. The winner of the SAC tournament gets a bid to the NAIA tournament which starts on Nov. 17 through Nov. 19. The championships start on Nov. 29 and go through Dec. 5. Games are played at neutral sites across the country up until the championships which will be held in Decatur, Ala.
