Oklahoma City University notched a pair of lopsided season-opening victories 38-7 over Schreiner (Texas) and 54-0 over Jarvis Christian (Texas) on Sunday at Abe Lemons Arena. 

The Stars’ win over Jarvis Christian accounted for the men’s wrestling program’s eighth 50-point outing and 10th shutout ever.  

Against Schreiner, Cooper Mahaffey equaled the quickest pin by a Star with his 10-second fall of Martin Davila in the 133-pound match. Mahaffey, a junior from Yukon, Okla., matched the 10 seconds Connor Holman took to pin Brandon Park of North Texas on Jan. 29 in Miami, Okla. 

OCU boasted of four falls against Schreiner as Casey Goss at 125, Drake Vannoy at 157 and Jack Kitchingham at 197 delivered pins.  

The Stars’ Skyler Bean came through with a takedown in the final 10 seconds of his 10-8 victory against Austin Harmangerber at 174. 

Against Jarvis Christian, 141-pounder Trinit Zweifel and 174-pounder Mannix Faworski posted falls. OCU benefited from five forfeits in the dual.
