With kickoff of the MACU women’s soccer season just weeks away, the Evangels are proud to announce that Nate Holladay will serve as the program’s new assistant coach.
“Beginning a new path after playing the game of soccer my entire life, I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity of being able to coach this great game, especially here at Mid-America Christian,” said Holladay. “I look forward to beginning this new calling of assisting the development of not only great soccer players, but young Christians on their life journey.”
A Norman, Okla. native, Holladay comes to MACU after serving as a Physical Therapist Technician for Therapy in Motion out of Norman. Holladay pursued a career in physical therapy after a collegiate soccer playing career at NCAA Division I UNC-Asheville.
In his two seasons with the Bulldogs, the goalkeeper appeared in three matches and two starts, amassing a 1-1 record and a 1.66 goals allowed average while making eight saves on a .667 save percentage.
“Nate will bring a lot of energy and experience to our training sessions,” said MACU Head Coach Anthony Yousey. “He played at a high youth level before going to UNC-Asheville. He has an excitement for the game that he will instill into our players.”
In his two years at UNC-Asheville, Holladay also served as a campus recreation worker, where he promoted, coordinated and participated in student intramural events while also becoming CPR/AED certified.
On-top of scouting and day-to-day operations, Holladay will look to bring his extensive experience as a goalkeeper toward coaching the Evangels’ goalkeeping position.
During his high school playing career at Norman High School, the team captain helped lead the Tigers to the 2018 6A State Tournament as well as competed for the Oklahoma Energy FC Central ’00 club team.
