Markwayne Mullin, a prominent public figure, recently shared a series of reflections on social media about the World War II Memorial and his personal connection to it. His tweets provide insight into the significance of the memorial and pay tribute to those who served during World War II.
On July 2, 2025, Mullin expressed the profound impact of the WWII Memorial by stating that it honors “16 million who served, +400k who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and all who supported at home.” He added a personal note by sharing that visiting this memorial was “the last trip my PawPaw, WWII veteran Kenneth ‘Cowboy’ Morris and I ever did together” here.
In another post from the same day, Mullin recounted a memorable moment with his grandfather. He quoted him saying, “I’m not going to be pushed into my monument, I’m going to walk in on my own two feet.” Mullin emphasized that he would “never forget that moment,” expressing gratitude for what he termed as “the Greatest Generation” here.
Later that day, Mullin highlighted a poignant feature of the memorial: “There are 4,048 gold stars on this wall.” He explained that each star represents families who lost loved ones in WWII and stated that they are honored there here.
The World War II Memorial is located in Washington D.C., serving as a site of remembrance for those who participated in one of history’s most significant conflicts.
