Senator Markwayne Mullin, a U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, recently addressed a range of topics on his social media account.

On August 25, 2025, Mullin referenced ongoing efforts to advance the Protect Women’s Sports Act, legislation he began working on with former Representative Tulsi Gabbard in 2019. In his post, Mullin stated: “While @TulsiGabbard and I first started working on the Protect Women’s Sports Act back in 2019, change also had to come from courageous female athletes willing to stand up for their sports. @Riley_Gaines_ is helping us lead this very important charge. https://t.co/NDc7O0PRfu”.

The following day, August 26, 2025, Mullin marked the anniversary of the attack at Abbey Gate during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. He wrote: “Four years ago today, we lost 13 American service members in a sick and cowardly terrorist attack during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan at the Abbey Gate in Kabul, Afghanistan. To the Gold Star Families who lost loved ones, we will not forget the service and the”.

Later that same day, Mullin promoted physical fitness initiatives linked to the Trump administration by asking: “Have you tried the Pete & Bobby Challenge? The Trump administration is Making Health and Fitness Great Again. https://t.co/QGkobojRpE”.

The Protect Women’s Sports Act has been part of ongoing debates about participation standards in women’s athletics since its introduction in Congress by legislators including Tulsi Gabbard and Markwayne Mullin. The legislation seeks to define eligibility for female athletic events based on biological sex assigned at birth.

The attack referenced by Mullin occurred during the final stages of U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport. Thirteen American service members were killed when a suicide bomber detonated explosives at Abbey Gate as evacuation operations continued amid deteriorating security conditions.
