Senator Markwayne Mullin, a Republican representing Oklahoma, used his Twitter account on July 25, 2025, to highlight the impact of recent tax legislation and to criticize Democratic opposition to these measures.

In a series of posts, Mullin claimed that Congressional Democrats opposed tax relief and supported what he described as the largest tax hike in history. On July 25, he wrote: ” Remember: every single Democrat in the U.S. House and Senate OPPOSED tax relief and voted to give YOU, and 207 million other taxpayers, the largest tax hike in history. Luckily, President Trump and Congressional Republicans delivered with OBBB. 8/ “

Mullin also promoted specific provisions of the OBBB legislation. In another post from the same day, he stated: “The OBBB delivers more Trump campaign promises, like boosting the Child Tax Credit for +40 million families, no tax on tips or overtime pay, and additional tax relief for seniors. Our policies reflect the belief that YOU should keep MORE of your paycheck–not the government. 7/”

He further argued that failing to make previous tax cuts permanent would have resulted in higher taxes for many families. As Mullin posted on July 25: “If we had failed to make the Trump Tax Cuts permanent in this bill, the average working family of four in Oklahoma would’ve seen a $2,013 TAX HIKE next year. The OBBB is already paying off for the millions of Americans who voted for President Trump–and even those who didn’t! 6/”

Markwayne Mullin has been an active supporter of former President Donald Trump’s economic policies during his tenure in Congress.
