Senator Markwayne Mullin recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding ongoing legislative efforts and personal interactions with political figures. The tweets, posted on July 14, 2025, address government spending, the rescissions package, and an anecdote involving former President Donald Trump.

In a post dated July 14, 2025, Mullin explained the process and urgency surrounding proposed federal budget cuts: “What YOU need to know about rescissions and our FRIDAY deadline We’re working with @WhiteHouse to pass a rescissions package to CANCEL billions in wasteful spending. Here’s how it works: Under the Impoundment Control Act, we asked the Trump administration to send Congress a”.

Shortly after, Mullin reaffirmed his position on the matter by stating his voting intention: “@WhiteHouse I’m obviously a yes vote. If that wasn’t clear.” This tweet was also posted on July 14, 2025.

Later that day, Mullin reflected on an interaction he had with former President Trump following an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. He wrote: “One year ago, I spoke with @POTUS the morning after he was shot in Butler, PA. He was energetic and unshaken. President Trump even joked: ‘My ear’s gonna look a little messed up. NOT like yours’ —referring to my cauliflower ears— ‘but it is going to look a bit different.'”

The Impoundment Control Act referenced by Mullin is federal legislation that allows the president to propose rescinding (canceling) previously allocated funds; Congress then decides whether or not to approve these proposed cuts.
