Senator Markwayne Mullin posted a series of tweets on September 2, 2025, addressing topics ranging from Senate procedural history to tax policy and local resources.

In his first tweet, Mullin referenced past Senate actions regarding judicial nominations. On September 2, 2025, he wrote: “To those who complain about the ‘nuclear option’ on Trump nominees, I’d like to introduce you to the 2013 Dem majority: https://t.co/T6LNBQJn0M”.

Later that day, Mullin commented on tax policy under President Trump and Congressional Republicans. He stated: “President Trump and Congressional Republicans delivered the largest tax cut for working and middle-class families in the HISTORY of the United States of America. Finally, major TAX RELIEF is on the way. https://t.co/iqtIKWBvTE” (September 2, 2025).

In another post on September 2, 2025, Mullin provided a resource for constituents with the message: “Find your county here: https://t.co/0wni0dr2mP”.

The “nuclear option” mentioned by Mullin refers to a change in U.S. Senate rules that allows certain decisions to be made with a simple majority rather than a supermajority. In November 2013, Senate Democrats used this procedure to eliminate filibusters for most presidential nominations except for Supreme Court justices. This move set precedent for subsequent uses of the nuclear option by both parties.

The tax cuts referenced by Mullin pertain to legislation passed during President Trump’s administration. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 reduced individual income tax rates and lowered corporate taxes; supporters argued it provided significant relief to working- and middle-class Americans while critics debated its long-term impact on deficits and wealth distribution.

Markwayne Mullin serves as U.S. Senator representing Oklahoma since January 2023.
