Markwayne Mullin, U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, commented on recent congressional activities and fuel prices in a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
On September 2, 2025, Mullin criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer for not advancing appropriations bills to the Senate floor during the previous legislative year. He stated: “Anyone who follows Congress (or watched the news) knows liberal failure @ChuckSchumer neglected to bring even a SINGLE appropriations bill to the Senate floor last year. Not one. We passed 3 before Aug recess. NDAA (defense bill) is next. No wonder America fired Dems in ’24.” According to recent reports, appropriations bills are essential for funding government operations and must be passed annually by Congress.
Later that day, Mullin provided an update on legislative priorities following the August recess: “We’re back. Up next: government funding and changing the Senate rules.” These comments reflect ongoing discussions about government spending measures and possible procedural changes in the Senate.
On September 3, 2025, Mullin turned his attention to fuel prices in Oklahoma, writing: “Average regular unleaded gas price today in Oklahoma: $2.747. In 2022, under Joe Biden, OK hit a record high average at $4.665. Thank you, President Trump!” Gasoline prices have fluctuated significantly over recent years due to various economic factors including global supply disruptions and domestic energy policies.
Senator Markwayne Mullin has served as Oklahoma’s junior senator since January 2023 and is known for his vocal stance on energy policy and fiscal issues within Congress.
