Markwayne Mullin, U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, recently shared a series of posts on his social media account addressing both religious inspiration and Senate procedural matters.

On August 31, 2025, Mullin posted a Bible verse: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV.

In subsequent posts dated September 2, 2025, Mullin discussed ongoing efforts within the Senate regarding nominee confirmations and rule changes. He wrote: “Some of us spent August working w/ the Trump WH on Senate rule change options. While @SenateGOP is ahead of Trump 1.0, and taken more votes (499) than any Congress in 35+ years, we MUST clear the nominee backlog & overcome Dem delay tactics. All options must be on the table.”

Continuing this discussion minutes later, Mullin added: @SenateGOP We’ve confirmed 135 civilian noms. ZERO confirmed by voice vote or “unanimous consent” which is 100% unprecedented. My view has been, if Dems continue to throw historic obstruction (because their base is mad at them), let’s change the rules to confirm the president’s team ASAP.

These statements reflect ongoing debates in the U.S. Senate about confirmation processes for presidential nominees. Historically, some nominations have been expedited through voice votes or unanimous consent agreements when there is broad support or minimal opposition. However, recent sessions have seen increased use of procedural delays and holds by members of both parties.

Senator Markwayne Mullin has represented Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate since January 2023.
