Judge Kendal Huber Tawwater will be sworn in by Mayor David Holt as Oklahoma City’s newest municipal judge at 8 a.m. on May 9. The ceremony will take place in the executive conference room before the City Council meeting.
Judge Kendal Huber Tawwater was appointed by the City Council on April 25 to replace Judge Jason E. Glidewell who accepted a position with Oklahoma County District Court as a Special Judge. She will serve alongside Presiding Judge Philippa C. James, Judge Donald O. Kiffin and Judge Edward D. Hasbrook.
“I am honored to be appointed by Mayor David Holt and Council and am excited to continue my dedication in public service as Municipal Judge for the City of Oklahoma City,” said Huber Tawwater. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Oklahoma City through my respect and dedication to the law, public service and to continue to promote and uphold confidence in the judiciary system.”
Municipal Judges have a critical role in upholding public trust and confidence in the administration of justice at the City level. They oversee cases involving alleged violations of Municipal Code, including traffic tickets, residential code enforcement, criminal offenses and more.
Judge Kendal Huber Tawwater served as a Senior Administrative Law Judge for six years for the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in the Western Regional Service Office. She presided over hearings in the areas of the enforcement docket, conservation docket, regulation docket, pollution docket, petroleum Storage tank docket, transportation docket, emergency docket and motion docket.
Judge Kendal Huber Tawwater received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Arizona State University in 1996 and a Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2001. She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association, the Oklahoma County Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
