Dusty Deevers, a public figure and elected official from Oklahoma, posted a series of statements on May 6, 2026, addressing religious perspectives on the treatment of human remains and critiquing current legislative procedures in the Oklahoma Senate.
In his first post on May 6, Deevers responded to common arguments about cremation and composting. He wrote, “Let me address the common objection: “But, ‘ashes to ashes, dust to dust,’ the body is going to dirt anyway, it doesn’t matter how it gets there, whether cremation or composting.”
This is a category error. Genesis 3:19 tells us what happens to the body after death, it breaks”.
Later that day, Deevers expanded on his theological viewpoint regarding human bodies. In a tweet posted at 16:28 UTC he stated, ‘”What is the human body?”
Shifting focus to legislative issues in Oklahoma later that evening at 20:26 UTC, Deevers addressed concerns over representation within state government. He said,
“Since before I was elected, I have fought for equal representation for all Oklahomans. Every district deserves to have its voice heard.
Deevers’ remarks reflect ongoing debates both within religious communities about funeral practices and within political circles concerning transparency and representation in legislative processes in Oklahoma.
